My Little Play Dough Maker

Looking for something to do? How about making a batch of homemade play dough. 

Molly loves to help me in the kitchen, especially when it involves stirring with a big spoon. Today I decided to pull out my very first cookbook and look up that old play dough recipe. This book brings back such great memories, its edges are warped and pages stained with cooking oils. The way a cookbook should be! 

You need:

1 cup white flour

1/4 cup salt

2 tbsp cream of tartar

1 cup water

2 tsp food coloring

1 tbsp vegetable oil

Here's what you do:

Mix flour, salt and cream of tartar in medium pot. Add water, food coloring and oil.

Stir over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes. Don't worry if the mixture looks like a globby mess; it'll turn into dough.

When the mixture forms a ball in the center of the pot, take it out and put it on a floured surface. Squish it and punch it around a bit. (kneading)

When your done, put it in an airtight plastic container and store in the fridge.
